Logistics and supply chain are utilized by a wide variety of institutions in today’s scenario. The transportation and logistics industry is made up of many parts that perform very different functions. Analyst

Analyst is considered the primary or entry-level logistics position. Analysts are responsible for collecting and analyzing data to look for problems that are likely occur. Good math and computer skills are generally required for getting into these positions.  A good and active  team setting is also important, as analysts are expected to recommend solutions to their supervisors in the process. Although it is an entry-level position, an analyst’s tasks become more varied and complex as he or she gathers experience. The basic understanding of logistics planning that one acquires as an analyst is useful in many more-advanced positions throughout his/her journey.

Logistics Engineer

A successful analyst might find himself promoted to a Logistics Engineer which is a next level position. While an analyst makes recommendations, however, logistics engineers are responsible for implementing those solutions. They manage their own projects as well as those of analysts, and must be capable to write technical proposals for their plans. 

Consultant

Consultants work directly with clients advising and implementing logistics solutions for specific problems. This often requires the consultant to be a free agent of sorts, moving from area to area solving problems; many consultants, however, find this challenge to be quite promising and rewarding. Project management is a key area of consulting work; consultants must manage data to find solutions, oversee the implementation of those solutions, and ensure that clients understand basic supply chain requirements for moving forward.

Customer Service

Customer service specialists are not necessarily required to have college degrees or entry-level knowledge of logistics as a whole but to call it the best customer service, it should feature both. Whether pretending as a sales team or managing existing clients, customer service team acts as an intermediary between clients and the rest of the logistics team. 

Purchasing Manager

 Purchasing managers find materials and material suppliers from different areas across the world, sign them to contracts, and manage good relationships with them. They must also actively communicate with inventory and warehouse managers to coordinate the timely delivery of materials.

International Logistics Manager

International logistics managers are responsible for maintaining relationships with the international partners. International logistics requires a familiarity with ever-evolving international customs, laws, and regulations. 

Inventory Manager

Inventory managers perform the activity of overseeing the accumulation of required resources and material goods, and examine data for the ongoing trends. 

Supply Chain Manager

 Supply chain managers oversee the entire system of supply chain that includes purchasing, warehousing, inventory, and production. They also seek to streamline the system in order to reduce the total cost and optimize productivity.
